March 2010, Beard Shave and Waxing     Top of page

Jennifer Kearns, Edmond Purcell and Michael Tobin organised a beard shave and wax at The Thatch Pub, Grannagh, Kilmacow. The craic was mighty not to mention the brave males who volunteered for waxing and shaving. These are all young generous people who made this a most enjoyable and successful fundraiser and raised a total of €616. Well done and a big thanks to all.

"Ciaran lived for others and for every moment, with him it really was a wonderful world. He followed research progress in Marfan Syndrome with intense interest and was relieved and grateful to be under the care given by Prof. Mark Redmond and his team. The studies in treatment of Marfans since his younger brother, Damian died in 1992, gave Ciaran great encouragement in the present and hope for the future. His wish to contribute to The Marfans Research Foundation is a testament to who this fine, thoughtful, 38 year old young man was.

Ridley’s Great Baddow Charity Races May 2010    Top of page

Sr Philomena Purcell participated again this year on behalf of our Charity. Philomena finished the race in style and raised the incredible total of €1,235. This is Philomena’s sixth year participating raising €5,780 to date. Big thanks to Philomena for her loyal support.

Brenda Power, Ursula Corcoran and Pamela Martin joined the team for the great day. We had a brilliant day and believe it or not, the rain was welcome. Together we raised a total of €1,314. Sincere thanks to all our generous sponsors.

11th September 2010, Annual Pony and Trap Drive, Castle to Castle    Top of page

This year’s drive is from Kilkenny Castle to Grannagh Castle in Kilmacow, South Kilkenny. This promises to be a spectacular and colourful occasion. Billy Meany organises and leads the Drive. Billy will be accompanied by the delightful Mary Corcoran. Mary chooses the costumes for the Drive. Billy and his team will leave Kilkenny Castle @ 12 Noon – going through Stoneyford, Knocktopher, Ballyhale, Mullinavat and Grannagh Castle at The Thatch Pub. There will be a pit stop at Carrolls in Knocktopher at approx 2pm, to replenish ponies and drivers. This is Billy’s sixth Drive and has raised the unbelievable amount of €32,559 to date. We appreciate Billy’s generosity as this event involves skilful planning.
