September 2008, Fundraising Skydive

Thomas Doyle, Dangan, Kilmacow, County Kilkenny successfully completed a sponsored daring skydive on behalf of our Charity. Thomas raised a total of €505. We are extremely grateful to Thomas and all the Doyle family who are loyal supporters of marfan research.

2nd June 2008, Women’s Mini Marathon

Michael and Geraldine participated on behalf of our Charity. Wendy Rossiter and family from County Dublin, joined us on the walk. The day was scorching but we paced ourselves and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. Between us we raised €1,400 on the event. Sincere thanks to all our generous sponsors.

May 2008 Ridley’s Great Baddow Charity Races

Sr Philomena Purcell participated on behalf of Marfan Syndrome Research for the fourth time. Philomena’s registered race number was the historic 1066 and finished the race in record time. Total amount raised was €1,074. Well done, Philomena!

31st January 2008, Meal at The Mill Restaurant, Greenville, Kilmacow, County Kilkenny

Sixty marfan supporters shared a meal at The Mill. Proprietor, Chef, Kieran Laffan provided a splendid meal on the night. Kieran Mc Grath welcomed everybody and thanked everybody’s contribution no matter how small. Dr Jonathan Mc Guinness, Mater Hospital, Dublin and Dr John Byrne, Waterford Regional Hospital, who are both involved in Marfan research in Ireland expressed their appreciation for the financial support they receive for research. They are optimistic for the future of marfan research. They hope to publish a paper on their current research in the coming months. They said the future looked bright and encouraged all present.

The annual table quiz took place at The Showboat, Waterford. We had a most enjoyable and successful night and raised a total of €802.
